A new challenger approaches!
Awards season may be over, but isn’t there someone you forgot to ask? Catholic Game Reviews is proud to present the 2025 Catholic Game Reviews Awards on our YouTube channel. Join Catoons, Gaius Requiem, KAMaximilianK, and Matt “PBnJ” Palardy as they discuss the most interesting games played by CGR staff and patron supporters last year.
This year we changed up our process for nominating and voting for nominees. Each writer ranked nominees, which gave each game a points total. Then discussion would occur. Ultimately a game is always debated over by our writers, so even if a game had the highest score, if there was a strong contention against that game’s victory we would go back to the drawing board. That change in process did lead to some surprises and upsets this year, but ultimately we want the final nominees and winners to be games that we’ve critically thought about, not just games that remain in the spotlight due to cultural inertia. This change really helped us interrogate the nominees so as to arrive at a better conclusion!
A list of the nominees and winners is below, but do watch; lists are nice, but you’ll miss our smiling faces / ghosty avatar, charming wits, and contentious discussions about extraneous lore!
